New restaurant in the works next to Fraze

KETTERING — City officials said this week a new restaurant is under development at 580 Lincoln Park Blvd. in space that formerly held The Tropics adjacent to Fraze Pavilion.

The space, vacant since September 2014, will become Park, under the direction of Dana Downs, owner of Roost Modern Italian restaurant in Dayton’s Oregon Historic District.

Kettering economic development manager Gregg Gorsuch said that Downs “has proven her expertise as a restaurateur and developed a strong following at Roost.”

Gorsuch said the city has worked to resolve parking problems around the space on Fraze concert nights, with city-hired parking attendants who will help ensure that a section of the building’s parking lot will be dedicated to restaurant patrons.

The owner of The Tropics cited parking as the primary reason he closed the restaurant after two years. MARK FISHER
