A Kettering company was among the 15 companies American Honda Motor Co. recognized this week as its top suppliers for 2013.
Crown Packaging provides packaging services and support to Honda. It was only Ohio company to receive Honda’s Premier Partner Award for 2013.
“The Premier Partner Awards highlight an outstanding group of suppliers that provide Honda with exceptional service each and every day,” said Charles Harmon, American Honda’s senior manager of corporate procurement and corporate services. “Their support is critical to our ability to provide our customers with quality customer service and products.”
The award recipients were selected from among 46 suppliers nominated by American Honda’s associates out of more than 1,000 eligible companies. STAFF REPORT

Kings Island owner renews deal with Panama Jack
Amusement and water park operator Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. and retailer Panama Jack announced Friday a five-year agreement to continue their partnership.
The extended agreement is for Orlando, Fla.-based Panama Jack to sell its products including sun care, sunglasses and hats at Cedar Fair’s parks and venues. Additionally, the partnership allows for joint marketing campaigns to promote outdoor summer activities.
Financial terms of the agreeement were not disclosed.

Boeing to open design centers in three states
Boeing Co., a major defense contractor and Ohio employer, said Friday it will create new aircraft-design centers in Washington state, South Carolina and California.
The company portrayed the new centers as a way to increase its engineering and propulsion capacity as demand rises for new aircraft and services. Boeing predicts that the world’s airlines will need 34,000 new planes over the next 20 years, a potential $4.5 trillion market.
The three new design centers will compete with each other on cost and engineering know-how.
“We fully expect them all to thrive,” said Boeing spokesman Doug Alder. “There’s a lot of work coming.”
Chicago-based Boeing also has a design center in Moscow. On Friday, it said it’s considering supplementing that with one in Kiev, Ukraine.
The company said that it would move most support for planes no longer in production away from Puget Sound in Washington to Long Beach, Calif., in the next six to nine months. ASSOCIATED PRESS
