Centerville meat store to add wine shop

Owners have applied for liquor license and changed shop’s name.

WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — The Zink’s Meats of Centerville store at 41 Marco Lane is planning to add a wine shop.

Melissa Metzger and David Hoffer of West Alexandria, who took over ownership of the meat shop in July, have applied for a liquor license and have already formally changed the business name to Zinks Meats & Fine Wines (the owners dropped the apostrophe with the name change). They hope to open the wine shop portion of the business later this year.

The business owners are hoping to rent space next door to the existing meat shop on Marco Lane just off of Ohio 48/Dayton-Lebanon Pike just south of Centerville to accommodate the wine shop. They are also considering moving the business to another location along Ohio 48, Metzger said.

“We want to help teach people how to dine well in their own homes,” Metzger said. “You don’t need to go to a restaurant and spend oodles and oodles of money to get a fine-dining experience.”

Zinks Meats & Fine Wines sells prime and choice cuts of beef along with pork, Amish chickens and seafood. Metzger said she is planning monthly wine-and-food tastings that will allow customers to taste prepared meats with different wines. She said the shop will stock wines “to suit all tastes,” ranging in price from under $10 to $200 or more..

Zinks employs five people. Metzger said she expects to hire a few more employees when the wine shop is up and running.

The Washington Twp. meat shop is not connected to the Zink’s Meat Market in Franklin. For more information about Zinks Meats & Fine Wines, call (937) 435-4980.
