The building in the past has been a Holiday Inn and a Ramada Plaza. Before its closure, it had been branded since 2016 as The Dayton Hotel. The site had more than 230 rooms, a pool and banquet rooms.

The structure was damaged in the series of tornadoes that tore through the Dayton region on Memorial Day weekend.
