Dayton Freight Lines receives award
Dayton Freight Lines, a leading provider of regional less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services, was recently selected as the recipient of a customer award.
For the sixth time, Dayton Freight has received the 2016 Transportation Excellence Award from The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. This award recognizes superior performance in the regional LTL category.

Library honored for design
The American Institute of Architects recently recognized the Dayton Metro Library's Northwest Branch for excellence in design.
On Tuesday, Oct. 25, the AIA Dayton Chapter held its Focus on Design Awards, which draws attention to Miami Valley architecture firms producing quality and high performance design. Ruetschle Architects received an Honorable Mention in the Newly Completed Buildings category for their work on the Northwest Branch Library, 2410 Philadelphia Drive in Dayton.
The Northwest Branch opened in April. A consolidation of the Dayton View, Ft. McKinley and Northtown-Shiloh Branches, it was the first newly constructed building in the Libraries for a Smarter Future project.

Miami graduates honored
Three recent Miami University graduates received a second-place award in an international competition for a podcast episode they created. The award was announced at the 2016 Broadcast Education Association Super-Regional Conference.
Justin Maskulinski, Connor Moriarty and Reis Thebault, who graduated in May 2016, created the podcast series "Now What?" with other students in the new journalism capstone class, True Stories in Sound. The series is about college seniors and their stories as they move into the next phase of their lives.
The three won in the student creative works-audio category for their episode, "The Final Column." The class was taught by Joe Sampson and James Tobin, both of media, journalism and film.
The audio competition gathered 75 entries from all over the world. The first-place award was given to a student at the American University in Cairo and the third-place award to two students from the University of the Punjab in Pakistan.
