UD hosts U.S., Japanese researchers for composites conference

DAYTON — Scientists and engineers from Japan and across the United States are in Dayton for a conference on the structures and uses of composite materials.

The University of Dayton is host for the joint gathering involving the American Society for Composites’ annual technical meeting and the U.S.-Japan Conference on Composite Materials. The sessions continue through Wednesday at the Dayton Marriott Hotel.

UD also was host for the ASC’s first technical conference, 25 years ago. The university conducts various research projects involving advanced materials.

Composite materials, often lighter and more corrosion-resistant than traditional materials, are in demand for use in construction and aircraft. The Dayton region is home to the National Composite Center, located in Kettering.
