Most recently under McNeill’s tenure, the Greentree Health Science Academy to be built on Atrium Medical’s campus was finalized Nov. 23. The Academy is a partnership of the city, Atrium, Miami University and Warren County Career Center to offer a seamless education from high school to potentially a master’s degree in the health sciences.
McNeill had the vision to develop a Health and Technology Campus where the hospital moved three years ago, according to Atrium. The campus also houses strategic partnerships with several health related facilities such as Greentree, which is slated to open fall 2011, according to Atrium.
The campus has also spurred development on what’s called the city’s East End, said Mike Robinette, city economic development director.
Taking McNeill’s place is Carol Turner, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Atrium. Turner started at Middletown Regional Hospital 30 years ago and has worked with McNeill since he joined the hospital in 1992.
“He’s really a great leader, he’s visionary and he’s really been a great mentor. So, of course, I’m sad to see him go. It will be a big change for all of us here at Atrium and we all share his vision for strong, local health care,” Turner said.
She added she’s excited too and looks forward to moving ahead with the team next year.
Atrium Medical Center is one of four hospitals operated by Dayton-based Premier Health Partners.
