La Fiesta opened with about 20 employees, owner Arturo Fuentes said.
When Fuentes was first exploring opening the second restaurant, he applied for a liquor license for the space and was informed by the Ohio Division of Liquor Control that the Randolph Plaza was in a “dry” precinct that did not allow liquor sales. Signatures were gathered on a local-option petition so that the issue could appear on the May primary ballot for Clayton’s precinct 3-B voters to decide.
The ballot issue passed with nearly 90 percent support, and Fuentes moved ahead with his plans.
A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Dec. 9, and a Mariachi band is scheduled to perform from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, Fuentes said. The La Fiesta opened its door for a soft opening last week, and the response so far “has been even greater than I expected,” Fuentes said.
La Fiesta is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. For more information, call the restaurant at (937) 280-4320.
