New auto dealer comes to area

J.D. Byrider franchise will open on Miamisburg-Centerville Road.

Used car dealer J.D. Byrider plans to open its first store in Dayton next month in the space formerly occupied by Luxury Cars of Dayton.

J.D. Byrider franchisee Chris Hadley paid $1.4 million for the abandoned auto dealership at 1575 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, where he plans to unveil a 2,100-square-foot showroom on Aug. 1 if renovations are completed on time.

The dealership will initially employ 14 people, Hadley said, but that number will likely double as business picks up.

“We’ll definitely build up that number over time,’’ he said.

The new location will maintain a rotating inventory of about 50 cars in the $8,000-$12,000 price range and provide in-house financing for buyers with less-than-stellar credit, Hadley said.

Carmel, Ind.-based J.D. Byrider already has 24 dealerships in Ohio, but the Dayton market had been overlooked.

“It just seemed like a market that was underserved as far as being able to provide financing to people who can’t always go out and easily obtain financing,’’ Hadley said. “A lot of people, given the state of the economy, are in that boat. And we saw Dayton as a good market to step into and serve that niche.’’

Hadley already operates dealerships in Nashville, Tenn., Madison, Ind. and Florence, Ky.
