New sandwich shop now open in Centerville

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches has opened at 6226 Far Hills Ave. — the first tenant to locate in the newly constructed retail center called The Shops of North Village.

The franchise-operated sandwich shop occupies an 1,825-square-foot space that includes a drive-through service window. The site formerly housed a KFC restaurant, which closed in 2012 and was demolished in 2013.

The new Jimmy John’s is the seventh Dayton-area location for the Illinois-based sandwich chain, and the fifth for local franchise owners Jon and Erika Wyss and Brad Hohla. The trio also operate Jimmy John’s locations in Beavercreek, Springboro, Sugarcreek Twp. and Miami Twp. The other two Dayton-area Jimmy John’s locations — in Troy and in Dayton near the University of Dayton — operate under separate franchise ownership.

Jon Wyss said this morning that he and his business partners are still looking to open other new Jimmy John’s sandwich shops in the region.

The Centerville restaurant employs 25, and Wyss said as many as 10 more people will be hired over the next two months. A grand-opening celebration is being planned for mid-summer, the store’s co-owner said.

Jimmy John’s is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. For more information, call the restaurant at (937) 428-5676.
