“We’re getting lots of interest from the market about how companies can extend their data warehouses from the enterprise data they now have — into the new world of multi-structured data from new sources to get a better understanding of the business,” Gnau said in the company’s release.
Earlier this year, Teradata announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Aster Data Systems Inc., a company focused on finding useful information in big data, which can include both structured database information and unstructured data, such as videos, social media material and more.
