New wine and craft-beer shop coming to Troy

TROY — A wine and craft beer shop called Bottle No. 121 is scheduled to open sometime after the first of the year on Troy’s town square.

The shop will be located at 121 Public Square, Suite 10. It is the brainchild of co-owners Brian Heggs and Mallorie Brinkman of Piqua, who describe Bottle No. 121 as an “upscale retail carry-out” that will offer “the finest selection of craft beer, fine wine, gourmet foods, and unique gift ideas in a very cosmopolitan atmosphere,” the co-owners said. The beer menu will include a “constantly changing inventory of seasonal brews, currently unavailable in the Miami/Shelby county area,” the owners said.

Heggs and Brinkman said they are “passionate about the art of beer and wine. We believe that we will be generating an interest in the growing trend of craft brews, thus generating a stimulus within the community.”

Plans call for Bottle No. 121 to host customer appreciation tasting events by invitation, Heggs and Brinkman said. “Our vision is to actively serve the community by being strong advocates of responsible and informed alcohol consumption,” the owners said.

Brinkman is an FTD master florist with 33 years experience as a floral designer and previously owned the Little Red Barn in Piqua, which specialized in custom interior floral designs and antiquities. Heggs has worked in advertising, graphic design, and marketing for more than 27 years and previously owned BRG Group, which specialized in motorsports graphics.

They chose the new wine and beer shop’s location because Troy “is positioned perfectly for such a store,” the owners said. “Downtown Troy is evolving into a very cosmopolitan place, and it offers the types of businesses with which we want to be associated.”

There is no target date yet, but the owners said they are planning for an early 2013 opening.
