“This gives us a shot in the arm for retail and restaurant recruitment efforts,” Murphy said. “We hope this is the first of many sit-down restaurants and other retailers that take a look at our community.”
The restaurant will be the fifth in the region for the Cincinnati-based Buffalo Wings & Rings, and the first for franchise owners Todd and Audra Fetter of Waynesfield, near Lima.
Todd Fetter said he hopes to open more of the wings-and-sports restaurants in the region, but has not identified sites. The new Piqua restaurant will open around Feb. 1 and will employ 30 to 40 people, Fetter said.
The franchisee said he will invest more than $100,000 in entertainment technology alone in the new Piqua restaurant, including multiple large-screen televisions and entertainment systems. “We’re not going to skimp on that,” Fetter said.
Buffalo Wings & Rings was founded in 1984 and operates more than 50 restaurants across the U.S., including locations in Centerville, Lebanon, Monroe and Fairfield, according to the company’s website. The restaurants’ menu includes wings, burgers, gyros, wraps, salads, sandwiches and quesadillas.
