NuVasive to double production, add 35 jobs

Global medical device company NuVasive Inc. will hire 35 new workers at its Fairborn manufacturing subsidiary as part of plans to more than double production at the facility over the next three to five years, company officials announced Wednesday.

The local facility, NuVasive Manufacturing LLC, will host a career open house to fill the new positions on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1 Herald Square in Fairborn.

NuVasive Inc., headquartered in San Diego, acquired the local spine implant manufacturer, formerly known as ANC LLC, in May 2013 for $4.5 million. The purchase was part of the company’s plans to bring manufacturing in-house, officials said.

Since the acquisition and prior to the announcement of the 35 new positions, the company has expanded NuVasive Manufacturing’s workforce from 50 to 80 employees.

“We look forward to maintaining a long-term presence in the region as NuVasive Manufacturing continues to grow and develop a new team of professionals who embrace our mission here in Dayton,” said Rick Osborne, the company’s director of operations and manufacturing, in a statement.

The new jobs include management, machinists, engineers, inspectors and entry-level positions. Candidates are encouraged to apply online in advance at nuvasive.com/careers.
