A Findlay, Ohio-based office supplies retailer will occupy the former Staple’s store in Moraine, consolidating a Salem Avenue store into that location, Moraine’s economic developer said Monday.

On Friday, the $950,000 sale of a former Staples store at 1927 W. Dorothy Lane was recorded in Montgomery County. Cole St. Moraine Ohio LLC sold the building on 2.44 acres to Schroeder Commercial Properties LLC, county records indicated.

Mike Davis, Moraine development director, said Friends Office will locate there and acquire the building, a transaction he said was months in the making. He expects 15 to 20 employees to be hired there.

“This is one we were hoping would happen,” Davis said.

Ken Schroeder is the president and chief executive of Friends Office. The company was founded 1991 by Schroeder and Dale Alt.

He said the company bought the former Salem Office Products store at 4604 Salem Ave. Friends Office also has locations in Avon, Worthington, Kent, Hermitage, Pa., according to its web site.

A message was left for Alt.
