Premier Physician Services sold

Dayton-based Premier Physician Services has been sold to Team Health Holdings, Inc. of Knoxville, Tenn., for an undisclosed amount.

Premier Physician — which was founded in 1987 and is not affiliated with Premier Health, the area’s largest hospital network — provides care for more than one million patients annually through the management and staffing of 45 emergency departments, eight hospital medicine programs, 15 occupational medicine programs and 15 correctional care programs in Ohio and six other states, according to a press release.

Team Health is one of the the nation’s largest providers of outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals and has grown dramatically in recent months with the acquisition of eight companies since September, company officials said.

“TeamHealth is committed to growing our organization through partnerships with high-quality physician groups like Premier,” said Mike Snow, president and CEO of TeamHealth. “Premier’s more than 700 physicians and advanced practice clinicians have a reputation for delivering exceptional patient care for their hospital clients, patients and families. We welcome Premier to TeamHealth and look forward to a great partnership.”

Said Premier CEO William Cole: “Premier has been a recognized leader in health care services for more than 25 years. As the health care industry evolves and becomes more complex, we recognized that we needed a partner with the resources to support our infrastructure. Our partnership with TeamHealth will allow us to continue providing our clients with the highest level of service.”
