PSA Airlines, flight dispatchers reach contract agreement

DAYTON — PSA Airlines Inc. and a union representing the company’s flight dispatchers have reached agreement on a five-year contract that would be the first for those employees since joining the union in 2007.

The contract covers 11 dispatchers for PSA, which is based at Dayton International Airport. The agreement is subject to a ratification vote that is to occur early next week, Jamie Horwitz, a spokesman for the Transport Workers Union of America, said Friday, Aug. 28.

The contract provides wage increases, a onetime bonus, a grievance procedure and improved pay for holiday work, Horwitz said by telephone from Washington, D.C. He declined to provide details while they are being communicated to union members.

The Transport Workers Union said it reached the agreement late Thursday night with PSA Airlines after 25 months of negotiations that began in July 2007. PSA dispatchers had voted in March 2007 to join the union.

PSA Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways Group. PSA flies under the US Airways Express banner.

Keith D. Houk, president and chief executive officer of PSA, declined to publicly comment on the tentative agreement, an aide said Friday.

US Airways’ corporate communications staff did not return telephone calls requesting comment on Friday.
