For the past few months, those on the hunt for a new home, apartment or condo struggled to find a way to tour their top choices — but luckily, the Downtown Dayton Partnership has come up with an innovative way for future homeowners to find their sanctuary within downtown Dayton.

There are 1,715 market-rate housing units in the center of downtown Dayton — and around 97 percent of these housing units are currently occupied. Perhaps you could be a part of that 3 percent that brings the occupancy rate to 100 percent.

On Saturday, May 16, the Downtown Dayton Partnership will host a Virtual Downtown Housing Tour to give all those interested in downtown Dayton real estate (whether you're renting or owning) a chance to tour these properties via a virtual tour web page that will be linked to the Facebook event page at noon that day.

"Although it's unfortunate one of our most popular summertime events can't be held in person, our team is excited to offer this as a virtual experience that opens up unique opportunities that wouldn't have otherwise been available in our normal housing tour," said Sandy Gudorf, president of the Downtown Dayton Partnership, on the group's website.

The Virtual Housing Tour will include video tours, photo galleries, construction renderings and more from a number of apartments and condos available in downtown Dayton.

The 112-unit Centerfield Flats, located on the eastern end of Fifth Third Field, is expected to open next month. The apartment building is just the latest housing to come to Water Street, which already has welcomed more than 400 new apartments in the last several years. CORNELIUS FROLIK / STAFF

Here's a look at construction progress of The Elks Lofts, located at 100 E. 3rd St. in downtown Dayton's Fire Blocks District. Loft apartments will fill the upper four stories of The Elks Building, built in 1916 and designed by architect Albert Pretzinger for businessman Adam Schantz, Jr. and the Elks fraternal organization. May 2020 is the estimated completion time frame for the apartments. Leasing information can be found by visiting fireblocksdistrict.com. TOM GILLIAM / CONTRIBUTING PHOTOGRAPHER
