Southwest Ohio law firm plans merger

Law firms Dinsmore & Shohl LLP — which has an office in Dayton — and Woodward, Hobson & Fulton LLP, which is based in Louisville, said Friday, Aug. 21, they plan to merge.

The merger goes into effect Sept. 1, according to a news release.

The deal gives Cincinnati-based Dinsmore & Shohl more attorneys specializing in corporate law, product liability, labor and employment law and torts, the news release states.

George Vincent, managing partner of Dinsmore & Shohl, said merging with Woodward, Hobson will enhance Dinsmore & Shohl’s reputation in Kentucky.

“One of the firm’s strategic goals is to keep pace with continued client growth in the Midwest and this is certainly another step in the right direction,” Vincent said.

Dinsmore & Shohl has 450 attorneys in offices in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Woodward, Hobson has 54 attorneys.

During the last two years, according to the news release, Dinsmore & Shohl has added more than 150 attorneys, primarily through its merger with Chernesky Heyman & Kress P.L.L. and by bringing on board 27 attorneys who had left Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs LLP’s Columbus office.
