Taco Bell has chosen Dayton to test-market its new “Power Protein” menu and zero-calorie drinks starting July 25, the company announced Wednesday.
“We chose to test the Power Protein Menu in Dayton because we have great company and franchise operators and loyal customers in the (Dayton) market,” Taco Bell spokesman Rob Poetsch said.
The burritos and bowls on the new menu will have more than 20 grams of protein and less than 450 calories. They’ll contain double portions of meat and toppings such as corn, black beans and reduced-fat sour cream.
Dayton has a rich test-market history. In March 2011, the Tim Hortons restaurant chain chose the Dayton area as one of two test markets in the U.S. for its new panini sandwiches. And in 2010, Chick-fil-A selected the Dayton-Cincinnati market as one of four test markets nationwide for its new “Spicy Nuggets.”
