WEST CARROLLTON — An environmental services company in West Carrollton whose building was destroyed by fire three years ago is set to unveil its new facility next week.
Veolia has scheduled a ribbon cutting for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at its state-of-the-art liquid reclamation and treatment facility at 4301 Infirmary Road.
The facility repurposes and reclaims oils, paints, solvents and other hazardous materials, and converts them back into material that can be reused. Veolia employs approximately 75 people at this facility.
“We’re pleased that Veolia stayed here and made a $50 million investment reconstructing this facility following the tragic event that happened a few years ago,” West Carrollton City Manager Brad Townsend said. “Not only have they made the commitment to stay and build a state-of-the-art facility, they will add more employment. We’re pleased and glad to work with them on that.”
Veolia officials could not be reached for comment.
Denise Graham, a public relations consultant for the company, said that testing is already under way at the facility, but that it is not at “full capacity” just yet.
In May 2009, an explosion and subsequent fire caused $50 million in damage and sent four workers to the hospital.
Veolia Environmental Services’ parent company, Veolia Environnement, has employees in 77 countries and reported more than $38 billion in revenue last year.
