White-Allen owner expands yet again

The White family of auto dealerships is purchasing dealerships in Lancaster and Athens, Ohio, the company said Monday.

The White Family Companies said it is acquiring the Taylor Automotive Group in Lancaster and Athens.

Terms of the acquisition were not given.

The group consists of four dealerships that sell Chevrolet, Buick, Nissan, Honda and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram.

Said Tim White, the company’s president: “With these four dealerships and the addition of our new free-standing Volkswagen dealership in Dayton, we will have grown to 22 rooftops, representing 22 different makes while operating in South Dakota, Wyoming and Ohio with over 1,000 associates.”

The company was founded in 1914 by Hugh White near Zanesville, Ohio.

Currently the fourth generation of the White family are involved in group dealerships: Dave White Jr. in Toledo and Tim White Jr. in Dayton.

The new dealerships will be operated under the Hugh White name and William “Billy” Thagard will be the operating partner for the dealerships, the company said.

Most recently in the Dayton area, the business is building a new store on on Ohio 741 near the Dayton Mall, expected to open soon.
