With area members, Kasich’s workforce board hears plan

On Monday, Gov. John Kasich’s Executive Workforce Board had its inaugural meeting. The board is to work with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation to “rationalize Ohio’s entire workforce system and provide recommendations on how best to streamline nearly 90 existing workforce programs currently scattered across 13 state agencies.”

During the meeting, members heard recommendations to set up communication between the Executive Workforce Board and the 20 Local Workforce Investment Board chairs; implement a consistent “rebranding effort” for all One-Stop offices; and encourage using the OhioMeansJobs website as “the sole source of job searching and placement,” Kasich’s office said in a statement.

Area residents, or members with Dayton-area responsibilities, on the board include State Sen. Bill Beagle, R-Tipp City; Beavercreek Mayor Vicki Giambrone; Phillip Parker, president and chief executive of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce; and David Joyce, president and CEO, General Electric Aviation, among others.
