Wright State institute hires Air Force retiree as adviser

FAIRBORN — The retired commander of an Air Force supply-chain operation that manages an $8.5 billion budget will serve as senior adviser to Wright State University’s Institute of Defense Studies and Education.

Gary T. McCoy, who retired as a major general Oct. 1 after 35 years with the Air Force, is to help develop educational programs for the Wright State institute, which supports the Defense Department and industry by employing experts from the government, military, academia and private sector. McCoy was commander of the Air Force Global Logistics Support Center at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., specializing in managing movement of war materiel from factories to war zones.

His experience in unifying and streamlining operations within the Air Force’s supply chain will help the Wright State institute, said its director, Vikram Sethi.

McCoy was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base three times, most recently from 2003 to 2006 as director of logistics and sustainment at headquarters of the Air Force Materiel Command.
