Wright State Physicians names new president and CEO

Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine has selected a Toledo anesthesiologist to lead its affiliated physicians group, according to a media release.

Dr. Alan Marco has been appointed associate dean for faculty and clinical affairs at the Boonshoft School of Medicine, and president and chief executive of Wright State Physicians, one of the region’s largest physician-managed multispecialty groups. Marco’s appointment is effective Sept. 9.

Marco comes to Wright State from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, where he served as professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and the program director for the residency-training program in anesthesiology.

A graduate of the Johns Hopkins University, Marco received his medical training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and his training in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He earned a master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2000.

Marco was named a Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives in 2001, and served as chair of ACPE’s Council of Fellows in 2011-2012.

He is a past president of the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists and now serves as the Ohio director on the board of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Wright State Physicians is comprised of more than 150 physicians affiliated with the Boonshoft School of Medicine. The group provides primary or specialty care in a range of specialized diagnostic and treatment services throughout of the Dayton region.
