HBS Development, Inc. designed and built the home at 10826 Mariam Lane, which is located in the custom homes section of the Washington Trace community in Washington Township.

“A family recently moved into this home, which is representative of the kinds of homes we design and build,” said Brenda Mapp, sales manger and interior designer for HBS Development, Inc.

Most striking are the elegant features in the creative design, such as substantial custom wood trim, walnut-hued wood flooring, two dedicated entrances from the pool and the garage, five bedrooms including two main bedroom suites and an integrated outdoor living space complete with pool, hot tub and fireplace.

“We always design a home to meet the individual’s needs and to fit the lot they have chosen,” said Mapp. “The homes we are building beside this one and across the street are being built to the topography of the land, which is different (in each case),” she said.

Brick and stone complement each other in this home’s stately façade, which balances a bay window surrounded by stone at one end with a stone turret rising two stories at the other.

Inside the two-story foyer, an open staircase accented with wrought iron spindles and a wood handrail curves to the upper level.

Natural light streams through a tall three-window bay into the formal dining room, which sits under a tray ceiling with a metallic faux-finish framed in wood moldings. Nearby is a recessed butler’s station with glass shelves and a granite counter.

French doors enclose an elegant library embellished with wainscoting, two built-in desks and an octagonal sitting area surrounded by five windows and built-in seating.

A coffered ceiling adds a dramatic flair to the great room, which is warmed by a stone fireplace that is flanked with custom built-ins to hold entertainment media or art and collectibles. A wall of windows faces the deck, which overlooks the in-ground swimming pool and connects to an exterior living space with a bead board ceiling above the stone fireplace, hot tub and a tiered granite-topped bar.

Extensive wood trim enhances the archway leading from the great room into the kitchen and breakfast room, where another wall of windows overlooks the swimming pool.

Granite tops a buffet counter, workspace counters and the large center island, which has its own sink. More wood trim enhances the hood and vent above a six-burner gas cook top. Organizer shelves surround the walk-in pantry.

There are five bedrooms including two large bedroom suites with luxury baths.

One suite is on the main level and connects to the pool area. The upper-level suite connects to a versatile loft area. The three remaining bedrooms connect to the loft area or an upper balcony with a railing.

A second staircase descends to the kitchen. Two elegant mudrooms offer built-in wood lockers and hanging spaces.

Laundry rooms are located on upper and lower levels. The full, partially finished basement has an exercise room and plenty of space for expansion.
