Language barrier leads to miscommunication in I-70 pursuit

A miscommunication due to a language barrier result in a pursuit on Interstate 70 east that ended in Englewood Monday morning.

The incident started around 4 a.m. in Preble County with a tractor-trailer that’s taillights weren’t working, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. When the driver didn’t pull over, stop spikes were used to stop the semi.

Troopers used a translator to communicate with the driver, who was cited with a misdemeanor for failure to comply, according to OSHP.

The driver has been released. No injuries were reported during the incident.
