A 911 caller said that they heard the gunshot and when she got to her front door the victim was there. She said that the victim had been shot in the hand.
According to Dayton Police Lt. Steven Bauer, the victim was a 14-year-old boy. Bauer said that they believe that the gunshot wound to his hand was self-inflicted.
The boy was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, the lieutenant said.
Crews were clearing the scene a little under an hour later, dispatchers said.
