The younger sister of Tim Tebow's fiancee, former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, has died at age 13, the couple said Saturday.
According to the South African, the girl, Franje, was born with cerebellar agenesis, a rare brain condition that limited "her ability to walk, talk and develop as most other children would."
"My little Princess, Angel on Earth, biggest joy and baby sister, Franje, passed away earlier today," Nel-Peters, 23, of South Africa, wrote in an Instagram post. "Our hearts are aching beyond measure but I am grateful knowing she’s forever relieved of the pain she experienced on Earth. She’s laughing, running and playing in heaven just like we always hoped she would on Earth. She’s free! Thank you for all your prayers, love and support."
"Our loss but heaven's gain," Tebow, 31, wrote in a separate post. "So grateful for the hope we have of being reunited with the ones we love through our Heavenly Father."
Tebow and Nel-Peters got engaged earlier this year near Jacksonville, Florida, People reported.
