1) DAYTON DRAGONS

In July 2014, Palisades Arcadia Baseball purchased the Dayton Dragons from Mandalay Baseball Properties, LLC, but that won’t change the fan experience or the focus of the Class-A Minor League Baseball team affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds.

The Dragons hosts its home opener against the South Bend Cubs at Fifth Third Field, 220 N. Patterson Blvd., Dayton, at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 12. Springboro twins Natalie and Anna Mussin Phillips, the 11-year-old winners of the annual Dragons/Dayton Daily News national anthem contest, will perform before the home opener.

2) IMAGINATION BALL

Imagination Ball: Under the Big Top, a new family-friendly fundraiser, is presented in the Schuster Center's Wintergarden, Second and Main streets, Dayton, at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12. The event, which is to raise money to send kids to theatre camp and professional shows, features aerialists from Cincinnati Circus, magic, juggling, tightrope walking, hands-on activities and more. 3) WNKU FUNDRAISER

WNKU-FM has been broadcasting from the campus of Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Ky., since 1985. The commercial free station's main territory was primarily northern Kentucky and southern Ohio until January 2011 when the range was expanded to include Middletown/Dayton on the FM frequency 105.9. To help support WNKU and promote its musical programming, local concert promoter Mike Babb has organized a fundraising concert at Gilly's, 132 S. Jefferson St., Dayton, at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11. The psychic television star and best-selling author from Hicksville, N.Y., is a certified medium with the Forever-Family Foundation, which connects science with the afterlife. 5) UPDAYTON

Dayton is known as a city of innovation, but it's important not to rest on past accomplishments. That's one of the driving tenets behind the Greater Downtown Dayton Plan, which focuses on promoting economic development, strategic planning and technological innovation in the Gem City. Allandra Bulger and Charles Cross from Detroit Future City will discuss these topics as keynote speakers for the 2015 UpDayton Summit. 6) “SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN”

"Singin' in the Rain" (1952) is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time by the American Film Institute based on infectious songs and memorable performances from Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor. AFI ranked it No. 1 on its 100 Years of Musicals list in 2006 and No. 5 on its list of Greatest American Films in 2007. 7) BOOK SALE

Dayton Metro Library is always adding new items to its shelves, which means the inventory has to been thinned every so often. 8) NOBODIES OF COMEDY

9) YOSEMIGHT

Since forming their groove-oriented jam band in 2012, the members of Yosemight have been focused on presenting their danceable sounds to music fans beyond their hometown of Cleveland. The group's spring tour is dominated by Ohio dates but there are also shows in Colorado, Missouri and Illinois. Yosemight performs at Canal Public House, 308 E. 10) “TAKING SHAKESPEARE”

The worlds of a cranky professor at a small university and a wayward student collide thanks to the influence of William Shakespeare. That key plot point sets up the ensuing action in Canadian playwright John Murrell's "Taking Shakespeare." Aaron Vega directs the Human Race Theatre Company's new production, which opens at The Loft Theatre, 126 N. Main St., Dayton, on Thursday, April 16. "Taking Shakespeare" runs through May 3. Most performances begin at 8 p.m., with special 7 p.m. shows on April 19, 21 and 28, and 2 p.m. matinees on April 19 and 26 and May 3.
