LEBANON — The Lebanon-Mason-Monroe Railroad will become a time machine when it chugs to the Warren County History center this weekend on an American-Girl themed trip.

The ride, called the “Tea Party Express,” will take place Saturday and Sunday, with three departure times each day: 10 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Boarding begins 10 minutes before each departure, and the train departs from the station at 120 S. Mechanic Street in Lebanon.

From there, the train will take a one-hour route that goes through Mason and circles back around to Lebanon. Then, the passengers will de-board and walk to the Warren County History Center, said Victoria Tappy, the executive director of the Warren County Historical Society,

“They get a very full day for their ticket price,” she said.

At the history center, the passengers can partake in a cookies and punch buffet and will make poinsettias out of crepe paper. Then they will tour the museum, called Harmon Hall, Tappy said.

The entire event is themed around the American Girl historical dolls, particularly the colonial-themed ones like Felicity, Kirsten and Elizabeth. A mini-Kirsten doll and a copy of her book “Kirsten’s Surprise” will be given away during the trip, according to the railroad’s website. Having a doll is not required.

Also during the visits, names will be entered into a drawing for a full-sized Felicity in her riding outfit; the Felicity doll is being retired by the company this year, Tappy said.

Typically, the train ride has a “mystery” performed on the train, but that will not be held on this trip.

“They’re making things a little different to get the ticket price down so more people can attend,” said Tappy, who added that about 400 people go on each trip.

The train ride can be taken with or without the trip to the museum. The full experience costs $22.50 for adults, $19.50 for children aged 5 to 16, and seniors 62 and up. Toddlers (age 2 to 4) ride for $12,50 and infants ride for free.

The train ride only costs $15.50 for adults, $11.50 for seniors and children and $8.50 for toddlers. For more information, call (513) 933-8022 or visit www.lebanonrr.com.
