LIBERTY TWP. — A local business owner is cutting the ribbon on a new project that will serve as a guide for future redevelopment.
Jerry Weber, owner for the past decade of the Fairfield-based Lazer Web, will open THE WEB extreme entertainment inside the 56,000-square-foot former Kroger building at the corner of Cincinnati-Dayton Road and Liberty Way.
Initially, plans were to open the indoor family center by last fall, but securing financing slowed progress to a crawl, Weber said late last year.
The electronic playland for children — and energetic adults — is slated to have its ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. March 26.
Liberty officials lauded the $2 million redevelopment project, delighted they found a new use for the massive structure.
“We’re very excited to bring a family-friendly venue to the community,” Caroline McKinney, the township’s economic development director, said late last year.
Trustee David Kern agreed. “I’m absolutely thrilled that we’re finding a use for that empty building. That was a big priority for us,” Kern said.
THE WEB features a lazer tag arena, electric go-carts, mini bowling, an arcade, miniature golf, Noble Romans Pizza and an ice cream parlour that exclusively carries the Cincinnati-based Aglamesis Brothers brand.
Weber, who operates a similar business in the Dayton area, recently closed the Fairfield location off Ohio 4.
