The Shops of Oakwood will host the first "Shop Hop on the Avenue" from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Thursday, April 7, along Far Hills and Park avenues in Oakwood.

The Shops of Oakwood have undergone several changes and additions recently: Whispers home decor and women’s clothing store has relocated; “Get Dressed! Boutique” is celebrating 25 years in Oakwood with a remodel and rebranding; and several new independent merchants have been added, including clothing designers Bahar & Reza, Belgian chocolate shop Madame Delluc and the soon-to-open home, gift and apparel store Wild Poppy.

Tracey Schumann, owner of Get Dressed! Boutique, said the event could become recurring if Thursday’s turnout is strong.

Here’s a sampling of what some of the businesses will be offering Thursday:

Ashley's Pastry Shop will be sampling spring bakery items and offering graduation party ideas;

Lula Bell Art & Designs will host an art demonstration and will have a drawing to win an art class;

Blue Turtle Toys will be demonstrating some of the store's favorite games for groups and families

Get Dressed will host a Softino and Bos & Co. shoe event and will offer in-store makeovers from Trish McEvoy;

Whispers will host an UGG Trunk Show and will offer promotional pricing on spring merchandise and fall pre-orders;

Oakwood Florist will offer 20 percent off all gift items

Wild Poppy will open its doors for a sneak peek at the new store.
