10 local ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with FOOD

Whether in Dayton or Dublin, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations do tend to focus on the liquid refreshments associated with the holiday, with Irish food playing second fiddle.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Here are a few ways to “Go Irish For A Day” that have nothing to do with whiskey or stout. Although we wouldn’t judge if you washed this great food down with a tidy pint.

CORNER KITCHEN JIGGS DINNER

Corner Kitchen is hosting its Jiggs Dinner all week. It will feature house-made corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and soda bread.

WHOLE FOODS KEGS AND EGGS

Whole Foods has a Goidelic event for foodies, too. At their "St. Paddy's Kegs and Eggs" event, you can have free reign of five food stations and five Irish beers paired with appetizers for $10, with $2 pints of Great Lakes Conways Irish Ale also available. Bonus: they'll even have live music.

IRISH CLUB FEAST

The Irish Club of Dayton is hosting its annual two-day St. Patty's Day Party where you can party — but not go hungry thanks to the Irish Stew and food specials. Best of all, you can do it all again after the "Big O' Breakfast" for just $5 the following morning.

BREWERY CELEBRATION PLUS FOOD TRUCK

Star City Brewing Co. is hosting its first St. Patrick's Day celebration with the Star City Party. At the event, guests will enjoy a variety of activities, and most importantly, delicious food. Son of a Biscuit food truck will be on site.

Dewberry 1850 isn't disappointing with their special St. Patrick's Day dinner. The meal includes corned beef, shepherd's pie, croquettes, reubens, cabbage and potato salad.

Duck Donuts is getting festive with green donuts and sprinkles, plus 99-cent coffees. Ten percent of sales will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
