Kelley Austria named top defender in Atlantic 10

Three other Dayton Flyers earn all-conference honors

Dayton Flyers senior senior Kelley Austria won the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year award Tuesday. She was also named to the all-conference second team and all-defensive team.

On Twitter, Dayton coach Shauna Green called the Carroll High School graduate Austria, "The Glove." Austria leads the Flyers, who play Virginia Commonwealth in the A-10 tournament quarterfinals at 11 a.m. Friday in Richmond, Va, with 47 steals. Dayton won a share of the A-10 regular season title last week with an overtime victory against Saint Louis.

Senior forward Saicha Grant-Allen and junior guard Jenna Burdette were named to the second team. Grant-Allen also made the all-defensive team. Freshman guard Jayla Scaife made the all-rookie team.

Jackie Kemph, of Saint Louis, was named A-10 Player of the Year. Jeff Williams, of La Salle, was named A-10 Coach of the Year.
