It's finally spring, and that means it's time for this year's Fleurs de Fête, happening on Sunday, May 15, from 1-4 p.m. at Carillon Park. The product of a partnership between Arrow Wine & Spirits, Heidelberg Distributing, and Dayton History, Dayton's largest wine festival is now in its 25th year and promises to be better than ever.
Here are five reasons you need to add Fleurs de Fête to your calendar this weekend…
1. The setting
The return to Carillon Historical Park means the 25th annual Fleurs de Fête will be going back to its roots. Come celebrate spring, wine, and Dayton history with 1500 of your closest friends. With the sycamore trees at their spring best, and the 19th-century inspired Carillon Brewery right next door, you won't want to miss it.
2. The Belgian Beer Garden
Carillon Brewery is lending their Beer Garden and Beer Hall to Fleurs de Fête patrons this year, and there will be a nice selection of beers available. From Chicago’s Goose Island Green Line to Carillon Brewery’s Coriander Ale to Leffe Brune, and many more in between, the Stella Artois Belgian Beer Garden promises to offer a great choice of taps for the beer connoisseur, as well.
3. Live music and local fare
JT Fedrick and his jazz and blues band will be entertaining the crowd throughout the event. Make sure to grab a bite to eat while you enjoy the perfect mood music for the afternoon. From steak to seafood, and from coffee to chocolate, this year’s Fleurs de Fête will feature delicious samples generously donated by 20 locally owned and operated eateries.
4. It’s all for a good cause
Not only do the proceeds from ticket sales go to Dayton History, A Special Wish Foundation, and the Sinclair Community College Culinary Arts program scholarship fund, but there also will be both live and silent auctions during the event to further support these great causes. There are some amazing items up for auction this year, including dining packages, tickets to sporting events, spa escapes, and more.
5. The wine!
OK, so this one is obvious, but a ticket to the event gives you access to samples of nearly 500 varieties of wine from local wineries to European vintners. Why not take advantage? And the involvement of Arrow Wine & Spirits and Heidelberg Distributing ensures that the selection will be exceptional.
