Agape for Youth organization in need of essential items

Agape for Youth began serving the youth and families of 14 counties in southwest Ohio in 1989.

“In a quest to provide stability and love and to be able to make a difference in the lives of children, Agape has worked to become a leader in the field of foster care, adoption and, in recent years, the reunification of youth and their families,” says Sandra Geib, promotions and support services coordinator.

The organization was the recipient of the 2010 Better Business Eclipse Integrity award for Non-profit Organizations. Services provided are geared to advance the physical, mental, educational and emotional well-being of children who have been abused or neglected.

Geib says there are times when children are referred to foster care and arrive with very little clothing and, sometimes, only what they’re wearing.

Here’s what they need:

• Underwear, bras, undershirts and socks for children 2 – 18.

• Personal-hygiene products for children and families, including soap, body wash, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and feminine-care products.

“Many of the families that are being served through reunification services receive food stamps for assistance, and personal-hygiene items are not an approved expense on that program,” Geib adds.

Donations can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Agape for Youth Inc., 2621 Dryden Road, Suite 202, Dayton. (45439) For more information, call (937) 439–4406.
