Area Catholic students plan dress sale to help girls in Belize

DAYTON — Students from three area Catholic high schools are joining together to host a sale of gently used formal and casual dresses with proceeds going to high school scholarships for girls in Belize.

Chaminade Julienne, Alter and Carroll high schools will host “Dresses for Degrees” from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The event will be held in the Chaminade Julienne Library, 505 South Ludlow St., Dayton.

Dresses are priced from $15 to $20.

Shoppers can also buy raffle tickets for additional prizes including dinners, manicures and pedicures.

The new project is a follow-up to last year’s “Loose Change to Loosen Chains,” a Key Club endeavor that raised enough money to sponsor the education of two girls from Belize.

Dresses that don’t sell will be taken to local charities and given to teens who might not be able to afford prom gowns, said Susan Eichenauer, CJ Key Club Moderator.
