Church operates pet-food pantry

Paws4Hope is part of Ginghamsburg Church’s New Path Outreach.

“We are a primarily a pet-food pantry which, starting in July, will only be serving Miami County,” explained the organization’s coordinator, JoAnne Dodge. “Our vision is to increase awareness about the necessary care of our furry friends and to keep the pets in their homes and out of animal shelters.”

The non-profit organization, supported through donations, opens its pantry on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.

“Since a large part of our mission is to educate, we do require our clients to take a workshop prior to being able to use the food pantry,” Dodge explained. The workshops, which teach budgeting, responsible pet ownership and couponing skills, are held quarterly. One hundred families are currently being served.

Here’s what they need:

• Wet or dry cat food.

• Dry dog food.

• Pet treats.

• Pet toys, crates and beds are also appreciated.

Donations can be brought to the pantry, 7695 S. County Road 25A, Tipp City, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. For information, call (937) 669-1213.
