Since the early 1980s, the organization known as For Love of Children — or FLOC — has been ensuring that children served by Montgomery County Children’s Services can enjoy the holidays.

“We are a very passionate group of volunteers wanting to make life a bit better for our young who are living very difficult realities,” says board president Beth Mann. “Christmas for Kids is our biggest annual project, but we’ve also expanded to include 12 other programs. We’ve distributed school supplies to thousands of area children and we have a boutique filled with formal wear available to our youth. We also have a skill center with new computers and tutors available.”

At this time of year, the organization asks that our readers help out by placing new, unwrapped gifts in the white boxes around town that are clearly marked with the group's logo. This year volunteers are hoping to serve more than 2,000 children.

The toys you donate will go directly to the Toy Cottage, where they will be organized and distributed to children in need.

Monetary donations are also appreciated; you can donate through PayPal on the website: flocdayton.org
