I stopped by local shop Agnes & Orson Gifts and Goods at 1132 Brown St. in the University shopping area to see if they could help with this dilemma. Mission accomplished!
I found the cleverest gifts, quite reasonably priced, and perfect for the toughest fathers to shop for.
1.) Nothing says "I love you, Dad" better than a voucher promising to do yard work. Right? Knowing most fathers, I'd have to say that's a pretty darn good gift. The For Dad Vouchers is an easy gift that keeps on giving. The twenty vouchers inside promise that you'll deliver a variety of tasks that Dad can turn in at any time. $8.
2.) Got a Lebowski fan in the family? There were a couple different Bowling Ball Bar Kits I found, one serving as an interesting ice bowl and the other housing a round of shots. Both very ingenious, and will get a big smile from any bowling or bar enthusiast. Prices vary.
3.) Speaking of, a great addition to Dad's bar is one or more of the Root 23 Simple Syrups. There is a variety of flavors, including Cucumber Habanero, Vanilla Ginger and Grapefruit Basil. YUM! There are recipes included as well, so it's easy for Dad to create the perfect summer cocktail. $11.99 per bottle.
4.) I was delighted to see that Maxwell & Miles T-shirts were carried at this lovely little gift shop. They are one of my favorite local t-shirt companies. Their simple, well-designed, colorful shirts are a perfect gift for younger dads. $28.
5.) Is your father a frequent flyer? The Carry On Cocktail Kit is a cute little "thinking of you" gift, which is both practical for long flights and reusable. The little tin could be reused as a nice little case for future travel items, such as earbuds or medicines. $12.
6.) Another safe bet is picking up Gresham and Myers BBQ and Prime Rib Rubs. Lots of men love to grill, and this is a fun way to kick up the flavor! Both for sale price of $15.
I hope this list helps you with your shopping for Father’s Day, and introduces you to one of many locally owned stores that have unique gifts perfect for any holiday.
