The county animal shelter found new homes for 134 pets and reunited 99 pets with their owners. Also, 45 animals went to rescue partners last month, ARC Interim Director Robert Gruhl stated in a release issued Friday.
This month, ARC will host a free “Spring Fling” adoption event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 at the shelter, 6790 Webster St. in Dayton.

Statistics also show an increase in the number of pets spayed or neutered, with 117 in March, compared to 113 in February and 110 in January.
However, the report shows a dip to 88 percent in the shelter’s live release rate, compared to 90 percent in January and 91 percent in February.
The live release rate is calculated by dividing the number of live outcomes from adoptions, transfers and return to owner cases by total outcomes (live outcomes plus euthanasia). The 2017 rate was 56.7 percent, according to a "top-to-bottom" review in December by Team Shelter USA.

Gruhl said it has completed 40 percent of the Team Shelter USA recommendations, with another 45 percent in progress.
