The sad part is most scents are nothing like their boasted “top notes” and “low notes” on me. They all end up resembling a form of insect repellent at the end of the day. But I don’t let that stop me, especially when it comes to celebrity fragrances. I’m not into the designers, sports stars or rappers. Nope, I zero in on the singers and pseudo celebrities. Oh yeah, I’ve tried (and usually quickly discarded) J-Lo, Shakira, Beyonce, Jessica and Gwen Stefani. Britney Spears has stayed around awhile. I refuse to go near Paris or Celine or Mariah. And in a moment of weakness, I spritzed on some Kim Kardashian, but quickly grabbed the coffee beans and inhaled. I’m scared to try Justin Bieber; I already smell enough like hair spray.
But just as soon as I wean myself off the famous person merry-go-round, and go back to my standby body sprays, I am lured by the promise of a new celebrity scent, especially anything by a country music artist. Faith and Shania? Been there, done that. Even went so far as to ask my boyfriend to wear McGraw for a short while.
Some great new scents are on the horizon. Taylor Swift’s “Wonderstruck” launches next month. Keith Urban’s “Phoenix” for men comes out in October as well. I guarantee come Halloween time I’ll be trying out the new Taylor and BF will be going Aussie. Heaven help me and the man if Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton come out with scents. I’m not sure what will happen when “Gunpowder and Lead” meets “Hillbilly Bone.”
