Additional events are scheduled through the end of November at those two restaurants and at two additional locations: Bullwinkle's in Miamisburg and El Toro Mexican restaurant on Miller Lane in the Vandalia-Butler Twp. area. Egbert said she expects to add more restaurants to the rotation after the holidays. The inaugural event sold out, Egbert said, and the initial response to the Wine & Canvas concept has been positive.
During a Wine & Canvas session, an artist leads attendees in a step-by-step instruction to create a painting, while attendees can choose to have wine, beer or a cocktail — or dinner — from the restaurant’s menu, Egbert said.
Participants pay $35, which includes painting supplies such as brushes, paint, and a 16-by-20-inch canvas. Drinks and food are not included. In addition to the open-to-the-public events, Egbert said she can also arrange private events for corporate team-building, girls-night-out and other similar gatherings.
The Dayton area has seen a flourish of paint-and-sip studios in recent months, including Pinot’s Palette, which opened in front of the Dayton Mall this summer; Raise Your Brush, which opened in Centerville January 2013; and Paint By The Glass, the first to open in the region in West Chester.
