Dayton police responded to reports of a crash before noon at Troy Street and Stanley Avenue.
A 911 caller said “there’s a bad wreck, a very bad wreck” and that “there’s a car under a semi.”
The caller added she thought a tan vehicle ran a light and then hit the white vehicle that went under the semi.
A Toyota Corolla was going south on Troy Street when it ran a red light at the Stanley Avenue intersection, according to police.
The Toyota collided with a Ford Contour traveling northwest on Stanley Avenue.
The Toyota ended up under the trailer of a semi-truck going southeast on Stanley Avenue, according to police.
Two people had to be removed from the Toyota using mechanical equipment.
The driver, a 24-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was in stable condition as of Monday.
The passenger, later identified as Shokhzodayeva, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford, a 55-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No one in the semi-truck was injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
