He went into his residence and prevented officers from entering, Dayton police said.
The man eventually came outside and was arrested. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
The standoff lasted for about five hours.
A 46-year-old man was arrested in the 700 block of Westwood Avenue around 6:45 p.m., according to jail booking records.
He was arrested on a probation violation, as well as preliminary resisting arrest and obstructing official business charges.
