“By becoming Kettering Health, we ensure our brand reflects the high-quality care displayed across our network every day,” Fred Manchur, CEO of Kettering Health, said in a statement. “The past year has shown that we are truly stronger together, and this shift makes it clear to our communities that we are one, united Kettering Health — dedicated to being our best, to help our patients be their best.”
Moving forward the medical centers in the system will be renamed. The new names are:
- Fort Hamilton Hospital is now Kettering Health Hamilton.
- Grandview Medical Center is now Kettering Health Dayton.
- Greene Memorial Hospital is now Kettering Health Greene Memorial.
- Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center is now Kettering Health Behavioral Medical Center.
- Kettering Medical Center is now Kettering Health Main Campus.
- Southview Medical Center is now Kettering Health Washington Twp.
- Sycamore Medical Center is now Kettering Health Miamisburg.
- Troy Hospital is now Kettering Health Troy.
- Soin Medical Center will maintain its current name, because the facility was named after the Soin family’s large donation.
- Kettering Physician Network is now known as Kettering Health Medical Group.
It will take time for the logos and signage to all be changed; spokesman James Buechele expected that it will take into spring 2022 for the majority of the names to be updated.
Some of the renamed facilities are older than Kettering Health and date back nearly a century, founded decades before the hospital network acquired them.
Before it was called Grandview Medical Center, the hospital was founded in 1926 as Dayton Osteopathic Hospital and operated out of a converted private home at 324 W. 2nd St. After outgrowing its space, the hospital moved into a new facility on Grand Avenue in 1947. Since then, the hospital has expanded on numerous occasions.
Fort Hamilton Hospital opened in 1929 in Hamilton after a capital campaign raised over $500,000. Greene Memorial Hospital saw its first patients in 1951.
The Kettering family opened their first hospital on the family estate in 1964.
In 1999, Kettering Medical Center Network was formed by adding Grandview and Southview to its existing holdings, Kettering and Sycamore. Since then, what became Kettering Health Network acquired Greene Memorial in 2008, acquired Fort Hamilton in 2010, built Soin in 2012 and Troy in 2019.
“By updating our medical center names, we’re making it easier for patients to understand where they can find the compassionate, faith-based care they expect from Kettering Health,” Manchur said. “While our names are changing, we are still the same organization at our core. We remain steadfast in our commitment to combining Christ-centered care with exceptional medicine to bring health, healing and hope to every person we serve.”
