A standoff with a suspected armed robber ended Thursday evening after police broke into the apartment and arrested a man.

The incident started at Wayne Estates apartment complex when witnesses told police they saw a man suspected in two armed robberies within three hours overnight Wednesday.

Police tried to make contact with Casey Bolender using a bullhorn but were unsuccessful. They also tried using a robot with a camara on it but that did not work either, Huber Heights Police Sgt. William Dulaney said.

Police eventually broke into the apartment and found and arrested Bolender.  Police said he entered the United Dairy Farmers store at 7224 Taylorsville Road at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, displayed a handgun, demanded cash from the register and fled south on Brandt Pike.

At 1:26 a.m. Thursday, the Bolender entered the Speedway store at 6385 Chambersburg Road, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the register. He then fled on foot west on Chambersburg Road.

Surveillance video obtained at both locations confirmed that the suspect in the Speedway robbery matched the description of the man from the UDF robbery, police said.

Huber Heights police Sgt. Chris Kash told News Center 7 Bolender was “very brazen" when he was apprehended.  Bolender was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and could face two charges of aggravated robbery.
