Arrest Near In Ridgeway Pharmacy Robbery

Police in Dayton said they have an arrest warrant for a man accused of robbing a local pharmacy.

The robbery happened at Ridgeway Pharmacy in the 3100 block of East Third Street on Wednesday.

Police said Sean Rich was found at a local hospital, where he is being treated for injuries after he was shot in the neck allegedly during the robbery.

According to police, Rich who was armed with a gun walked into the pharmacy and demanded OxyContin.

Investigators said an off-duty Englewood police officer, Richard “Chip” Ridgeway, was working with family members in the store when Rich allegedly walked in and demanded cash and drugs.

Police said Rich fired a shot toward Ridgeway, just outside the back door of the pharmacy as he fled from the scene. The off-duty officer then returned fire.

Sgt. Moises Perez said, “We have so much more evidence to obtain a warrant. It looks like we have our suspect.”

According to police, Rich told them that he was not shot by anyone else, and that the would was self-inflicted.

Police said they returned to the pharmacy on Thursday morning to look for additional shell casings.
