The entire shop will be renovated for all three brands, according to Jim Evans, president of Evans Motorworks.
“The reason that we’re doing this is because our BMW business has been growing exponentially. We wanted to create a better customer experience,” Evans said. “We’re excited that we’re Dayton’s choice for BMW and this will elevate the customer experience.”
The renovation includes the office and showroom areas and involves the reconfigurations of the office area and the construction of the new restrooms, new finishes, new lighting, electrical and mechanical work, according to Amber Holloway, Vandalia’s city planner.
She added that the exterior renovation includes glass replacement, reworking of sidewalk and curbs and the reworking of exterior canopy.
Renovations are expected to take place May 18 and be completed sometime by the end of September, according to Evans.
“We will be shutting down the current Volvo showroom because that’s where the renovations will start. Volvo will move in with BMW temporarily, into the existing BMW showroom,” Evans said. “Used cars, which also operates out of the front of the campus will move down between BMW and Volkswagen and will be operating from there.”
There are 68 employees at the Poe Avenue address and the renovation could add up to four additional jobs, according to Evans.
In addition to the news about the renovation, the dealership plans to launch the all-new flagship BMW 7 series, which happens by the end of October. “We’re planning to launch that in the new showroom,” Evans said.
Evans purchased the auto dealership, formerly Frank Z Imports, in 2007.
Butt Construction will be the contractor on this renovation projection.
